EKLUTNA INC. SCHOLARSHIP & GRANT PROGRAM
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Eklutna, Inc. Scholarship and Grant Program is to provide educational opportunities for the success of Eklutna Beneficiaries through achievement of lifelong learning and personal development while respecting self-determination and culture.
ELIGIBILITY
Eligible applicants for EI scholarships and grants, as defined in the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971 [43 US.C. 1602(b)], include Alaska Native people who are original enrollees to Eklutna, Inc., natural or legally adopted such as a child, grandchild, great-grandchild, etc. whether or not the lineal descendant owns EI shares of stock.
PROOF OF ELIGIBILITY
First-time applicants, only, and name change.
Submit your proof of eligibility with your EI scholarship or grant application unless otherwise indicated. These documents are important to verify your eligibility to be considered for a scholarship or grant. If you have had a name change since a previously submitted application, submit verification of that change as indicated in the section below.
• Original Enrollee. A written statement from Eklutna, Inc. (on EI letterhead) to verify enrollment.
• Lineal Descendant of Original Enrollee. Select any one (1) of the following three options:
1. A copy of your birth certificate/s (and/or adoption decree) and your parent’s birth certificate if the original enrollee is your parent) AND an official written statement from Eklutna, Inc. to verify proof of your parent’s EI enrollment. Contact Eklutna, Inc. T. (907) 696-2828.
2. A copy of your birth certificate (and/or adoption decree, if applicable) and your parent’s birth certificate and your grandparent’s birth certificate if the original enrollee is your grandparent AND an official written statement from Eklutna, Inc. to verify proof of enrollment of your grandparent). 3. You may contact the Native Village of Eklutna for information about your Eklutna heritage and ancestors. Contact Eklutna, Inc. T. (907) 688-6020
• Name Change. If your name has been legally changed since your last application to the EI Program, submit a copy of the legal document to verify the name change has occurred.
MERIT AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING SCHOLARSHIPS
- Administered by The CIRI Foundation (TCF)
- For those individuals with a high school diploma or GED
- Paper applications are available 30-days before each deadline at www.thecirifoundation.org.

• Merit Scholarship – June 1 & December 1
• Vocational Training Scholarships – March 31, May 30, September 30 & December 1

The Eklutna, Inc. Scholarship and Grant Program offers unique and flexible programs that address potentials from early childhood development, general educational development (GED), career advancement, cultural/fellowship grants, and vocational or post secondary education opportunities.
GENERAL & CULTURAL FELLOWSHIPS, CHILD-ADULT DEVELOPMENT GRANTS & EDUCATION/EMPLOYMENT URGENT ACCESS GRANTS
The Eklutna, Inc. Board of Directors and Eklutna Scholarship Committee are excited to announce that Cook Inlet Tribal Council, Inc. (CITC) will be administering the Grants portion of the Eklutna Scholarship and Grant program.
These funds are designed to support a variety of education and employment improvement opportunities, and do not require a diploma or GED. Applications are processed on a monthly basis and are available on the CITC website.
- For those individuals without a high school diploma or GED, grants for further career upgrade opportunities will be managed through the Child-Adult Development Grant.
