Eklutna Services, LLC (ES, LLC) was established in 2006 as an Alaska-chartered limited liability company and is wholly-owned by Eklutna, Inc. (referred within as the Corporation)—an Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) village corporation.
Eklutna, Inc. owns in excess of 90,000 acres of land and, as Anchorage’s largest private land owner, is developing the economic landscape of the Anchorage area. ES, LLC is a subsidiary primarily focused on commercial and industrial construction, facility design/build, land development, land leasing, and government contracting. ES, LLC was set up to become the development and management arm of the Corporation.
Unlike strategies of other Alaska Native Corporations (ANC’s) with 8(a) designation that pursue work outside of Alaska, our research shows that there is a tremendous amount of local contracts awarded on a regular basis. Logistically, these types of contracts mitigate the risks and costly challenges of managing remote projects. This strategy sets ES, LLC apart from ANC’s that pursue large multi million/billion dollar service contracts, with high overhead costs, incredible risks and small return margins.
Eklutna Services, LLC actively pursues local projects. Military base work and other federal agency contracting opportunities within Anchorage is the primary focus. Working with the leadership and support of Weldin Construction, Inc., a contractor who is highly regarded at the Small Business Administration and has received numerous awards, and Davis Constructors and Engineers, Inc., one of the most experienced Alaskan contractors in design/build projects, ES, LLC will continue to strengthen its resume and build up its experience level.
