RESTORATION
When the Eklutna Power Project came online in 1955, the Lower Eklutna River hydropower project was abandoned, leaving behind a 70-foot tall and 100-foot wide concrete dam that quickly filled with sediment. A century ago, the beautiful Eklutna River was the same size as Eagle River, and was home to a very large salmon population that helped support the residents of the Native Village of Eklutna, Alaska.
